Candidate Criteria for the CDS 2022 Examination:

Nationality requirement: Applicants for CDS must be an Indian citizen, a subject of Bhutan, a subject of Nepal, a Tibetan refugee (who arrived in India before January 1, 1962), or a person of Indian origin (who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries, Vietnam, or other countries) to set a permanent residence in India.

If an applicant is not an Indian citizen, he or she must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Indian government in his or her favor; otherwise, the offer of appointment will be withdrawn.

Age Limit and Marital Status for the CDS 2022 Examination:

The age limit is between 19 and 25 years. Candidates who are divorced or widowed will not be classified as unmarried. As a result, they will not be considered for the CDS Exam.

UPSC humbly allows the date of birth on the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination Certificate, or a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or any equivalent examination certificate.

Horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from the Municipal Corporation, service records, and other documents relating to age will not be accepted. Thereafter, no change in date of birth will be permitted for any reason.

Educational Qualification for the CDS 2022 Examination:

Graduation from a recognized university,  at the time of the SSB interview, candidates who are in their final year/semester of a degree program must produce an authentic certificate of passing the degree issued by the University/College.

The date of issue should be included on the degree certificate, and the date of issue must be before the UPSC deadline. Otherwise, their nomination will be revoked.

Candidates who have been forbidden from holding any form of commission in the Defence Services by the Ministry of Defence are not eligible to sit for the exam.

Height is 157.5 cm (157 cm for Navy and 162.5 cm for Air Force)

Waist Hip ratio should be below 0.9

Waist Hip ratio should be below 0.8 

Waist Circumference should be less than 90 cm

Waist Circumference should be less than 80 cm

Vision (corrected) better eye 6/6 and worse eye 6/12

Myopia of not more than minus 3.5 D

Manifest hypermetropia should be less than plus 3.5 D including Astigmatism

Vision(corrected) better eye 6/6, worse eye 6/12

Myopia of not more than minus 5.5 D

Manifest hypermetropia should be less than plus 3.5 D including Astigmatism

 

NOTE: For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of the North-Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In the case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.

Hearing:

Free Field hearing loss is a criterion for disqualification in the speaking exam. Any CV/FW reduction of less than 600 cm is unacceptable.

Audiometric Loss:

In frequencies between 250 and 8000 Hz, the audiometric loss should not exceed 20 dB. An isolated unilateral hearing loss of up to 30 decibels may be tolerated on the advice of an ENT specialist if the ENT examination is otherwise normal.

You are not eligible to join CDS after the 12th as the minimum academic qualification for CDS is Graduation.

Yes, women can apply for CDS Exam, but they are eligible to join OTA only. They are then allotted SSC(Short Service Commission) in the non-technical cadre.

Though the age limit and marital conditions have been specified by the conducting body, there is no limit on the number of attempts. A candidate can apply for this exam till the age limit exceeds.

Candidates who wear spectacles are eligible for other CDS categories except for Air Force. For Air Force, you must not be wearing spectacles habitually.
